Pho Hung Vuong 2 Saigon (Springvale)

A variety of beef and chicken pho
Small $8
Medium $9
Large $10

Small Chicken Pho

Small Special Beef Pho

Medium Special Beef Pho

Large Chicken Pho (with no garnishes)

Sides

Pickled Onions

This is absolutely the best place for Vietnamese Pho. There’s no doubt about it. We’ve tried many places over the years and we never go back to them. When my family and I stumbled upon this one that was it. Occasionally we might try a different restaurant but this is the one we go to 99.9% of the time. Must be over 10 years now since we’ve been eating there. What’s so great about this place is that the soup for the pho they use isn’t as oily as other restaurants and the ingredients are always nice and fresh. Plus it comes out boiling hot and it’s very cheap. Everything inside this tiny restaurant is extremely clean. Never have I found anything dirty or send any food back.

Sausages for Dinner

I know it doesn’t look very appetizing but you can’t judge a book by its cover so that’s the same with food. Sometimes it may not look nice but it tastes good. Mum didn’t feel like cooking so we decided we’ll just have hot dog for dinner and we had some roast beef in the fridge so basically all we had to do was cook the sausages, stir fried some mushrooms with spring onions and toasted some bread. Simple and delicious. Even better with tomato sauce and mustard on the side.

McDonalds (Maccas)

A Dinner for 2 $38.80

Includes:
  • 2 large Angus the Great Meals
  • 2 Chicken and cheese burger
  • 20 Nuggets
  • 1 side Big Mac sauce

I know what you’re thinking. You’re probably thinking why is she writing about Maccas? Well, Maccas was like comfort food that night when you’re sick and you just want to binge out at home and not care about anything. I must say the Angus the Great burger is actually quite nice. It would be a burger I would want to eat again the next time I crave for Maccas!

I always go for Si Señor wrap because it’s my favorite and my boyfriend would always go for OMG! Look at those crossed arms. Someone wasn’t happy I had to take a photo first and kept him from his schnitz! The longer you wait the more you will enjoy it right?

Pipis!

Ignore everything on the table but the pipes! If I was allowed I would have eaten an entire plate of it myself. Simply my all time favourite seafood I'd say!

Bonbons Bakery

Vienne Cake

3 Layers of Dark Chocolate Sponge and Almond Cream

This is the cake we got for dad for his birthday last year. I don't remember the price exactly but it was definitely between $19 - $30. The description makes it sound very chocolaty but it wasn't! It was light and just had the right amount of chocolate flavour to it. It's not a very big cake but it still took us 3 days to finish it off between the 4 of us. The reason for putting this up is because it almost dad's birthday again and choosing a birthday cake is so hard. You want to choose one the birthday boy/girl likes yet everyones else can eat too, and possibly one not too expensive and reasonable in size. It's important to get a nice cake but why spend so much on it when it will be gone after you eat it and the only thing left is a photo of it? I rather spend that money on a present. At least that will stay around for a while!

Smiley Cupcake

Isn't it cute?! I stared at it for a VERY long time before I actually ate it!

Dessert Story

Peanut Snow Ice with Black Sesame and Crushed Peanut $8.90

I'm sure a lot of you out there have tried Crushed Ice? As nice as it is I reckon it’s hard to eat after a while because you are chewing very cold ice. Now, shaved Snow Ice is easier to eat and you won’t hear that crunching sound while you’re enjoying your dessert! It’s almost like long strips of shaved ice with a touch of ice cream. Not that you can tell from this photo because it's covered in black sesame and peanuts! It’s been a long time since I’ve had one and I’m really craving for one right now except it’s too freezing cold for it =(

Jamaica Blue

2 lattes and 1 Smarty Cookie $10.90

After spending all day at home it was nice to go out for a little bit for some fresh air and enjoy a coffee with a cookie, even though I had to halve it! I really shouldn’t complain since I didn’t even pay for it. It’s not easy to find places that makes nice coffee and the ones at Jamaica Blue was good so the next time I need a little break, I will definitely go back there. The price is pretty decent too for two people!

Too Healthy?

It was until I added a lot of salt!

Sour Lollies

I could eat them all day.

Mocha Jo's

1st Date, Sticky Date (homemade) $11.90

Mocha Jo’s describe it as – Our most talked about dessert, the famous sticky date pudding, vanilla bean ice cream, warm butterscotch sauce.

Looking at the photo makes me want to eat it right now because I’m feeling really cold. It is one of the best sticky dates I’ve ever had. I was surprised by the amount of butterscotch on the plate but believe me when I say there will be none left on the plate when you’re done. There’s also the perfect amount of ice cream on the plate to go around!

Cup-a-Soup Pasta

At home when there's nothing to eat we always make Korean two minute noodles. As nice and spicy as it is it's good to have something else to eat for lunch that is cheap and easy to make! So all you have to do is cook the pasta, and I like mixing different types of pastas together, and then in boiling water pour 1 packet (or 2 if u want) of cup-a-soup and stir until it's dissolved. Now start cooking the pasta in the soup until it thickens or if you want it more soupy that's alright too. It's your food so make it how you want it. The only thing I would add to this is black pepper. Lots and lots of black pepper!
